About Concealed Weapons Instruction in South Carolina

By South Carolina State law, to meet the
requirements for obtaining a concealed weapons permit applicants must
attend an eight hour course of instruction. This course must be taught by
a S.L.E.D. approved instructor and includes a specific body of information
as well as a live fire qualification and written exam. GrassRoots
Concealed Weapons Permit Instructors provide full instruction, firearms,
and materials to meet these requirements and complete the necessary form
for you to submit with your Concealed Weapons Permit application. Bring a
positive attitude and prepare for a day of fun!

GrassRoots GunRights makes no assertions or guarantees implied or otherwise that the instruction given by GrassRoots Instructor Members is either accurate
or meets the approval of GrassRoots GunRights of SC. These instructors are in business for themselves and it is your responsibility to research before selecting
an instructor and hiring their services. By requesting to become Instructor members of GrassRoots GunRights of South Carolina, each individual
asserts that the quality of firearms instruction they provide meets that required by current state law.
All GrassRoots Instructors must be S.L.E.D. certified to teach firearms instruction. Furthermore, members of GrassRoots must agree to stay up-to-date
on firearms issues, self-defense, and firearms training in South Carolina and maintain their standing as SLED approved instructors. Some GrassRoots
Instructor Members have also obtained other instructor qualifications, such as NRA certification. As a GrassRoots Instructor Member, it is your responsibility to inform
us immediately upon a change in your status as a SLED approved instructor. Instructor Members must provide the text of their ads found below and they alone
are responsible for the accuracy of all claims contained in their ad.

 | Training for Life, LLC offers handgun courses that range from very basic (NRA First Steps) to advanced (Personal Protection Outside the Home). Courses are made highly effective through the use of the NRA's Total Participant Involvement (i.e., learning by doing) teaching technique, small class sizes, and the use of appropriate audio-visual aids. Training for Life's Basic Pistol Course satisfies the training requirement to receive a Concealable Weapon Permit (CWP) in South Carolina. | Instructor Mark Starnes, 300 River Birch Lane Clover, SC 29710 Phone (803) 628-0304 Mark is a native of South Carolina and is from Clover. He is a retired member of the Armed Forces, having served twenty years in the United States Navy. Additionally, Mark is retired from the Federal Aviation Administration giving him a total of Forty years Federal Service. He is certified by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) as a South Carolina Certified Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) Instructor. Additionally, he is certified by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) as a Fingerprint Technician that can submit fingerprints to SLED and the FBI. Moreover, Mark is commissioned as a Notary Public for the State of South Carolina with his commission expiring November 1st 2016. Mark holds certifications from the North Carolina Department of Justice as a North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun (CCH) Certified Instructor. He, also, has successfully completed the course presented by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission in Laws Governing Concealed Handgun and Use of Deadly Force at the Salemburg, NC Justice Academy In addition, he holds certifications from the National Rifle Association (NRA) as an Certified Instructor for the following areas; Certified Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, and Metallic Cartridge Reloading. Furthermore; he is a National Rifle Association Certified Range Safety Officer. Being an avid shooter, Mark is a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). He shoots in the Custom Defensive Pistol (.45ACP semi-automatics only) class. Moreover, he is Certified IDPA Safety Officer. Also serves Lancaster and Chester counties. |
